About Walkies with Stu
About Stuart
Stuart qualified in Animal Management in 2012 at Kingston Maurward College where he obtained a Distinction*. Since then, he has completed additional training in loose lead walking and supporting sensory impaired dogs, and he has a certificate in pet first aid. He also has an enhanced DBS and has all necessary insurance in place.
Stuart previously worked in the emergency services, but decided that the thing that made him happiest was working with animals. He quickly noticed that there was a need for dog walkers offering solo walks within his community. Therefore, he set up Walkies with Stu to offer dog walking services and petcare services to owners across the Melton and Rutland areas.
Stuart is originally from Namibia, but is now happily settled in the Leicestershire countryside with his husband and their two dogs. Both dogs joined the family from Dogs Trust, so Stuart has experience in understanding the additional support that a rescue dog might require.

Why do we offer solo dog walking?
At Walkies with Stu, we believe that every dog deserves to have tailored dog walking experiences. For us, the best way to do that is to offer solo dog walking. While all dogs can benefit from one-on-one attention from their dog walker, our walking method also enables us to offer adventures to dogs that do not feel comfortable in group-walk settings.
Solo walks may be particularly beneficial for: reactive dogs, elderly dogs, young dogs, dogs with medical needs or those undergoing behaviour training.
Benefits of solo walks include:
- We can give your dog our undivided attention for the duration of their walk.
- Your dog is not left unattended in our vehicle at any point during our care.
- We can go at your dog's pace whether we are walking your speedy pooch or dogs that prefer a more leisurely stroll.
